If you’re feeling a bit stir-crazy, consider going online for a virtual zoo tour. The following zoos have some truly memorable footage that’s bound to keep you and your family busy for hours.
One of the top zoos in our region to offer a live camera feed is the Houston Zoo. Simply go to the Houston Zoo website and access the webcams, which include a live feed of the chimps, flamingos, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, and gorillas. You can even see the leafcutter ant cam, which gives you a close-up look at the complex ant colonies.
The Cincinnati Zoo also has a daily “home safari” on its Facebook Live feed, which you can visit every day around 3 p.m. Habitats include Africa, Cat Canyon, Dobsa Giraffe Ridge, Dragons! (with Komodo dragons), Gibbon Islands, Gorilla World, Jungle Trails, Kroger Lords of the Artic, Lemus Lookout, and more.
Looking for specific animals? The Atlanta Zoo is well known for its Panda Cam, which gives you a live stream of these gentle giants on its website. The Georgia Aquarium has a view of all things underwater, from whales to starfish, while the world-renowned Shedd Aquarium gives you behind-the-scenes footage of residents. The San Diego Zoo has koalas, polar bears, and tigers, while Monterey Bay Aquarium is known for the local habitat exhibit.
When it’s time for a non-virtual zoo visit, make sure your car is running at its best by scheduling a maintenance check at Sherman Chevrolet in Sherman, Texas.
